DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description:\nCurious about pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and other HIV prevention options? This session will provide an overview of currently available options, new options on the horizon, and efforts being made to increase access to PrEP through prescriber availability and dismantling systemic oppression for target populations. The facilitator will use theory, evidence, and personal experiences as a PrEP user, researcher, and pharmacist to leave participants with a solid foundation on managing PrEP in primary care settings. Specific considerations for PrEP eligibility, prescribing, and monitoring therapy will be discussed.\nRegister here ( https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/hiv-prevention-workshop-with-dr-kyle-wilby-tickets-871970205357 ).\nDr. Kyle Wilby’s Bio:\nKyle John Wilby (he/him) is an Associate Professor and Associate Director, Program Evaluation at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is originally from Saskatoon and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan (2008), a hospital residency from Vancouver Coastal Health (2009), a post-graduate PharmD from the University of British Columbia (2012), and a PhD in Health Professions Education from Maastricht University (2019). He has worked across the globe in public health and university settings, including positions in Ghana, Qatar, New Zealand, and now Halifax. He is a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and has provided education and training to pharmacy team members and other health care professionals on health equity and 2SLGBTQIA+ health across the world. He was the primary investigator for PrEP-Rx: Implementing PrEP prescribing by pharmacists in Nova Scotia.\n
