CURRENT PROJECTS
Rainbow Entrepreneurship Program

Chroma is excited to partner with Fusion Saint John and Envision Saint John to launch the Rainbow Entrepreneurship Program, empowering 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs in our region. With support from Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce and the Government of Canada, this initiative offers: a guest speaker workshop series for industry skill-building and one-to-one consulting for tailored support. We welcome 2SLGBTQI+ business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs, and self-employed creatives. Allies and the broader business community are encouraged to attend networking events to foster inclusion and strengthen support for 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs in Saint John.

Rainbow Lunch Club

Chroma NB’s Rainbow Lunch Club is a drop-in exclusive to 2SLGBTQIA+ and ally high school-aged youth, held uptown in Chroma’s space at 200 Carmarthen Street. Hosted by a mix of Chroma staff and trained volunteers, youth are welcomed into a safe, comfortable and warm atmosphere, where they are empowered to be their authentic selves.
Youth are greeted at the door, then invited in to create a make-your-own sandwich lunch, play a board game with friends, show their creative side using available art supplies, or just sit and chat with other youth with whom they share interests and commonalities. Chroma provides a clothing closet, personal care supplies and safer sex supplies all available for youth to help themselves to what they need.

PAST PROJECTS

Queer Joy Photovoice Project
The Queer Joy Photovoice Project brought together two groups—youth ages 18 to 26 and seniors over 50—to explore and express queer joy through photography. Participants captured images that reflect joyful moments, spaces, and expressions within their queer identities.
The project ran weekly for 5 weeks from September 8, 2025, to October 10, 2025 (exact dates to be determined based on participant availability).
The Queer Joy Photovoice Project was a partnership between Chroma NB and Wisdom2Action, funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada.
Beyond Acceptance: Becoming an Advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ Family Members

Monthly online group (third Thursday of the month) for parents, caregivers, and family members of 2SLGBTQ+ youth through Zoom (virtual attendance). Virtual monthly gathering for parents, guardians, and family members of 2SLGBTQ children, teens, and young adults. Chat with other caregivers from the comfort and privacy of your home, and ask any and all questions. Reach out to query@chromanb.ca for any questions or contact us on Facebook or Instagram.

Chroma Rainbow Connections
This event series hosted a brave space for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks and allies of all ages to create connections with their community and use arts and crafts as a form of self-expression. Chroma staff were present to answer any questions without judgement and provide resources while joining the artistic workshops. Rainbow Connections toured through community centres in different areas of our city, with the goal of increasing accessibility to those living in priority neighbourhoods.
Growing Resilience

Growing Resilience was for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth between the ages of 16-26 in the Greater Saint John region interested in gardening, local food, and identifying ways they can address climate change in their communities.
Over 8 months, youth participated in 7 workshops to learn how to start, grow, harvest, and cook their own food produced locally in community garden plots. Additionally, they will partake in a Photovoice project where they will identify the things in their communities that they see as issues and assets to address climate change. Stay tuned for the results!
This program is occurring in partnership with ACAP Saint John, Wisdom2Action, and the New Brunswick Environmental Network (NBEN RENB), and is funded by Ecclesiastical Insurance Canada!

Test Now: HIV Self-test Kits Distribution
Hey, Saint John! Chroma NB is happy to be in partnership with the Community-Based Research Centre (CBRC) and many local organizations to provide free HIV self-test kits. Get yours from these listed locations! Any questions or concerns? Contact query@chromanb.ca
#SpeakOUT by Chroma and Egale

In August and September of 2023, Chroma NB was able to host four sessions where 2SLGBTQIA+ youth were invited to “SpeakOUT” about healthy relationships and consent through their artistic expressions. Facilitators Kelly and Allyson led
discussions on this topic, then it all came together with Emily, an art facilitator, teaching the group how to share their thoughts in zine format. The zines created in these sessions were showcased at an open mic night at The Art Warehouse. This project was made possible by Egale Canada.
Creative Nights
Creative Nights was a monthly arts engagement event, held exclusively for 2SLGBTQIA+ and gender diverse individuals, aiming to break down social isolation barriers to networking by fostering a safe (in person and/or virtual) space where participants were able to make friends, learn a new skill, and creatively nurture their sense of self within a community of like-minded individuals.
