Little Salmon River Hike with WHiP’s Adventure Company
Register on Eventbrite: https://bit.ly/3yOb0uX
Please note: This is an all-day hike, and hikers can expect a 9-hour day. The goal is to take our time and enjoy the trail without having a time crunch.
Participants are welcome to meet with the group at WHiP’s Adventure Company at 85 Ludlow Street in Saint John at 8 AM with the plan to leave Saint John at 8:15 AM sharp to ensure we arrive to the parking location by 11 AM. An alternative meeting place will be at the Four Corners Irving gas station in Sussex (11 Route 890, Sussex, NB) at 9 AM, leaving at 9:15 AM sharp. Carpooling is heartily encouraged! Please contact query@chromanb.ca to offer or request carpooling.
The drive to the location is on the edge of the Fundy Trail, and a raised vehicle is suggested. The last 20km of the roadway is a logging road and can be a bit too rough for cars.
We will be parking along this road and using an access point to enter the trail.
The trail is roughly 5km round-trip. The first 1km is flat and easy walking. The following 1.5km is more downhill. At the end of the trail there is a previ, river, and small cook area. We will rest here for lunch, chats, washroom breaks, and to enjoy the nature around. From there, it’s all uphill. We turn around and walk 1.5km up the hill and end with the last 1km being flat.
A list of suggested items hikers are encouraged to bring:
Food – cold meal or hot if you would like to use the cooking area.
Cooking area – fire source, fire starter
Water – roughly 2 liters
Hiking footwear
Items to dry off if you plan to go into the water
Bug spray
Sunscreen
Walking Poles – suggested but not necessary
