Over the course of 7 sessions beginning in March 2024, Chroma NB’s monthly Supper Club has been cooking up more than just meals—it’s been creating connection, learning, and joy for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks and allies. Typically happening on the last Sunday of every month from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, this event has become a favorite for 60 individuals looking to build community and try something new.
What Makes the Supper Club Special?
Our Supper Club is more than a meal—it’s an experience. Each month, folks come together to learn a new cooking skill, prepare a meal as a group, and share the delicious results. Whether it’s mastering fresh pasta, learning how to create delicious hors d’oeuvres, or perfecting your bread-baking skills, every Supper Club is an opportunity to try something new and grow together. At its core, this is about connection. Cooking and sharing food is one of the oldest ways people have built community, and at Chroma, we’re putting a modern, inclusive spin on that tradition.
A Year of Flavors and Friendships
Over the past year, our Supper Club has become a space where people:
Learn Together: With guidance from Chroma’s amazing volunteer, Sam Del Duca, participants have picked up skills they can take home—and share with others.
Share Food and Stories: Every meal is a chance to get to know someone new, celebrate our shared experiences, and find solidarity in our unique journeys.
Build Community: Cooking side-by-side fosters a sense of teamwork and belonging that continues long after the dishes are done.
Why It Matters
The monthly Supper Club isn’t just about food—it’s about fostering a space where 2SLGBTQIA+ folks and allies can feel seen, supported, and celebrated. In a world that sometimes feels isolating, these evenings remind us of the joy that comes from learning, laughing, and growing together.
Join Us!
Chroma’s Supper Club happens on the last Sunday of every month, unless otherwise specified, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at 228 Germain Street (with access to the building at the side door on Queen Street). We provide the ingredients and a guiding hand; you just bring yourself and a willingness to dive in. All experience levels are welcome—whether you’re a kitchen pro or a total beginner, there’s a place for you here.
Keep an eye on our socials for updates on this month’s theme or skill. Come for the food, stay for the friendships, and leave with a full heart (and maybe a new recipe to try at home).
Let’s keep building something beautiful—one meal at a time. We can’t wait to cook with you!
Thank you!
This project could not have been possible without the Government of New Brunswick’s Wellness Branch with funding from their Community Food Action Grant! A big thank you to Sam, who volunteered their time to plan and facilitate these sessions. Thank you to the 60 individuals who took part in this program and we hope to see you again at the next Supper Club!
