This past weekend, Chroma NB had the opportunity to visit the Imperial Theatre, where “wartime wonder” Pearle Harbour took the stage to perform some classic pop songs and entertaining stories with her show “Agit-Pop!”. The drag tragicomedienne sang us some of her favourites with musical accompaniment by Steven Conway, including the classic “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time.” In between songs she elicited laughter and reflections about history, war, climate change, and other shared anxieties with stories and jokes.

Before the show, Chroma’s Daniel Meza and Kailer Boyne sat at a table in the lobby to greet attendees as they entered and shared information about our workshops and resources. Visitors who stopped by also had a chance to grab a Chroma button and handouts about our upcoming events and sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date. Alex Ash, president of Chroma, kicked off the show with a speech explaining who and what Chroma is, and welcoming Pearle Harbour to the stage.

When Pearle’s performance was over, she joined Kailer back at our table in the lobby, to sell her merch and greet fans. Attendees got to meet and chat with Pearle, take photos with her in front of the Chroma banner, and check out our table of resources again. A huge thank you to the Imperial Theatre for allowing us the opportunity to spread information about our services to community members, as well as to Pearle Harbour for putting on a fantastic show and sharing her stage and table with us.
