One for All district: inclusion, music and entertainment in the streets of Saint John during LGBTQ2+ Night

Hundreds of citizens and visitors of Saint John attended LGBTQ2+ Night, hosted by Chroma NB, in a festive week during the One for All District celebrations, part of the 2022 Memorial Cup presented by Kia.

Walking distance from the hockey headquarters of TD Station arena, excellent restaurants, and the waterfront, the One for All district on Canterbury Street came alive with music, food, entertainment, and more to showcase the many talents of Saint John’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Chroma NB opened the afternoon performances with a speech from our president, Alex Ash. Then, the Fog City Rollers showed a roller derby demo with acrobatic skating challenges, the talented duo Womb to Tomb played some sweet tunes, and a drag team led by Justin TooDeep made the crowd laugh and vibrate with excitement.

Other drag performers on the stage were Darling Delight, Barb Wire, Heather Silk, Dia Monde, and Sabrina Knoxx. To close the evening, DJ Randinger made people dance with a broad selection of pop, house and R&B from the 80s to 00s.

The event ended with a charming rainbow, fine courtesy of Saint John’s sky.

Chroma NB also had a booth where families could make their own buttons related to inclusion, love and equality. They also learnt about Chroma’s mission and inclusive pronouns with Chroma team members including Tanya James, Operations Manager, Manjeet Toor, Board Member, and Mariah Darling, Education Coordinator, and Daniel Meza, Social Media and Marketing Coordinator. A big thank you goes out to our wonderful volunteers, performers and vendors who all contributed in making the night a success.
